Merchant Lane@petalling street.

merchant lane-main entrance

Merchant Lane, a cafe that hidden secretly at the end of the Petalling Street and it is hardly to find. This old antique heritage building is located right beside ATC KL(Advance Tertiary College).

Merchant lane’s menu

Merchant Lane is one of the top grossing Instagraming hangout cafe. The interior of the cafe is full of chaotic decor and delightful warm.It divided into 3 section and each section contain different antique furniture like rattan  chair and wooden table.

So I decide to meet up old friend of mine,Cheong. We didn’t manage to order “The Taukay” as it already sold out.The waitress recommend us the Hongkie Beef Stew and Pipits Nest.

hongkie beef stew(RM21)

Hongkie Beef Stew(RM21) ,a Cantonese style’s slowed cooked beef served with gravy sauce, mash potatoes and veggies taste so fascinating. This dishes is quite similar compare to “A Pie Thing”.

pipits nest (RM16)

Pipits Nest(RM16)- serves with cheese sauce, mixed brinjal fries, onion rings and chicken pretty amuse me. The dish is very special and I pretty sure the chef had a great idea for the menu! Nice snacks.

The coffee is so good without any complaint.I doubt the barista at merchant lane is very skillful as the foam of cappuccino is so firm and smooth. They really served the best coffee in Petalling Street!

Antipodean’s menu were scribbled on the black wall with chalk. As you can see, customer will look at the wall because this is the only menu they provided.

Antipodean menu

The girls are craving for some fancy foods, so we decided to visit Antipodean cafe.We had ordered the Kiwi Lamb Burger with Bacon(RM24),Salmon Cream cheese chives with waffles(RM20) and Grilled Chicken (RM20).

The Grilled Chicken(RM20)

The Grilled Chicken(RM20) served with long bean, tomatoes and balsamic.Overall we felt so disappointed with it because we didn’t expect that the portion of that dish were small and is a bit pricy especially student like me to pay for it

Salmon Cream Cheese Chives (RM20) with Waffles

Salmon Cream Cheese Chives (RM20) with Waffles do impress us well. The combination of sweet waffles and salmon is “boom” inside our mouth.

Among three dishes we order,we absolutely  love the Kiwi Lamb Burger with Bacon(Rm24).The burger is beautifully presented to our table and the patty was so juicy and tender.Which pretty stastified our meal!

Kiwi Lamb Burger with Bacon(Rm24)

Afraid of being fat? Just forget about the diet and calories and enjoy your meal here! We didn’t manage to tried out the breakfast set even it’s served all day. Haha, is kind of weird that having breakfast set for dinner. Maybe I’ll dropby someday to eat their well known Big breakfast as their waiter highly recommended to us.

Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Kuih @chulia street.

Entrance of MTP

nice ambiance to chill.

Moh Teng Pheow(MTP) is the most  famous Old-school Nyonya  Kuih factory that is located at the hidden heart of Georgetown,Chulia Street for eight decades now.MTP is one of my parents favorite coffee shop as they serves the best traditional food and coffee. They said the traditional Nyonya dessert (kuih-muih) and food that MTP served can’t be found in any roadstore and coffee shop.

Mr Moh cutting the kuih.

The Nyonya Kuih that is made by the owner of Moh Theng Pheow are very traditional as you can see from the picture above that all of the Kuih-muih are made in an old school industry oven and utensils.

Moh Teng Phew’s Menu

assorted kuih -muih(traditional nyonya kuih)

We had tried out the assorted Kuih-Muih Kuih Bengka, Kuih Lapis,Kuih Talam,Sri Muka,Pulut Tai Tai,Chai Tau Kuih and Kuih Koci (RM0.50 per pieces). There is no artificial coloring used in all of the Kuih-muih,the blue color of “Pulut Tai Tai/Kaya Kuih”(glutinous rice with coconut jam)was resulted by adding morning glory flower in the glutinous rice.

Nasi Kunyit(RM8.50)

Laksa (RM6)

Moreover,we also ordered the Nasi  Lemak (RM8.50), Nasi Kunyit(RM8.50) and Laksa(RM6).

The Nasi Lemak (RM8.50) was served with fragrant coconut rice along with some fish, prawn, cucumbers, some peanuts and with a hint of dried fish. The combination of Nasi Lemak and the Sambal-Belacan complemented each other and the the gentle kick of the chili was felt the moment it was put in the mouth, slowly beginning to flame as it make its way through your throat.

Nasi Ulam (RM8.50)

The Nasi Ulam (RM7.50)is also one of their signature dishes that comes with steamed jasmine rice mixed with leaves of Centella asiatica.

MTP’s traditional  food and atmosphere in the coffeehouse made us feel like home. The taste of the nasi Ulam reminds me of my grandmother (who was a Nyonya) She used to cook all of the Nyonya dishes when she was still alive and we are regretted that none of us learn how to cook any famous Nyonya dishes.

Eggettes Lab @Sunway Pyramid

Hong Kong Eggettes(Gai Dan Zai), also known as egg waffle, is a popular street snacks, which also one of the most memorable I had back in Hong Kong.It come with a spherical egg-based waffle and quirky flavours.

Eggetes Lab Kiosk

It’s been years I craving for those Eggettes and finally I found the same taste which I had in Hong Kong. Eggettes Lab located in Sunway Pyramid serves their best, hot and playful Egg waffles.

Eggettes Lab is more likely a takeaway food kiosk as there’s no seats allocated for customers.Their eggetes were expertly done by using a baking machine similar to a waffle maker.

Fresh Made

The serves were fast but not efficient enough as there is a lot of customers queueing and waiting to collect their order.I waited 30 minutes for those Eggettes and it heavenly smell so good.

Eggetes Lab’s Menu

Eggettes Lab had 6 flavours-Original Flavour(RM4.40),Green Tea Flavour(RM5.40),Pandan Flavour (RM5.40),Chocolate Flavour(RM5.90),Chicken Floss Special(RM5.90) and Charcoal Cheese Flavour Special (RM5.90).

I tried out one of their best seller-Original Flavour (RM4.40). The most classics taste of all eggetes. It was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside.

Ori Flavor (RM4.40)

I also tried their Green Tea Flavour(RM5.40).Those matcha just match with the Eggettes and taste a bit bitter.

Matcha Flavor (RM5.40)

If you’d ask me,I would recommended that Eggettes Lab’s Egg Waffles worth a try .It was nice for something that cost below RM6 and expertly done to the the right textured.Futhermore, it’s so great that I can eat anytime whenever I want.

We took about 10 minutes to reach B.I.G from Wisma Help and managed to reach there safety as we walk along the roadside.

Yan with tons of fresh bread.

The first impression about B.I.G is their interior. The interior of B.I.G is kinda European Market style. It reminds me about the Fremented Market at Perth,Australia which I visited several years ago.

sources-Instagram

Things happened when internet is so advance that leads us to follow the trends of cafe hopping.I was so addicted with Instagram and the strength of the message and pictures posted by Instagram-er make me so irresistible and temptation did occur.

I still remember two years ago,the most trendy cafe in Instagram is STARBUCKS or CHATIME compared to others cafes. But it slowly takeover by cafe culture when everyone create a hastag(#) for cafehopping.

A Pie Things

Thousand and millions of pictures is being posted everyday in social network, allowed youngsters to detect the potential of the cafe in food industry, and realize their dream to have their own business by bringing out a wave of revolution in cafe world.

When the trends of cafe is so popular, anybody can invest in the business and easily opened their own shop. Most of the shop owners are very young and they are working hard to achieve their dream- open their own cafe.

It is very hard to own a cafe as creation and innovation is needed to make their own special menu to attract the customers and they need to compete with other cafe since cafe is now opened everywhere. Because of their effort, now we can enjoy the art of the food in every corner of Malaysia.

Oz Iced Coffee @bricklin Cafe

Nowadays, people are hanging out with friends and spending money to try out the food at the cafe.Cafe can be found in any local or foreign countries and there’s so many  new cafe sprouting up every week.

Ali,Muthu & Ah Hock-(AMAH)

Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock located at Ara Damansara Oasis Square.A place that looks like a very nice Commercial Area with ample parking.

AMaH’s menu

It is a local “kopitiam”(coffee shop) started by three friends. They want to identify this business as a Truly Malaysians entity and so they decided to embrace some local names.

The owner of AMAH chosen the name of Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock to signify the unity among the races in this country.

Nasi Lemak is AMAH’s signature dish and it is also a favorite among patrons. Besides that, they are also famous for their lip-smacking sambal and very affordable prices. None of the items on the menu exceeds RM10.

AMaH’s menu

The Nasi Lemak Ayam (Rm9.50) comes with coconut milk rice, sambal, well-seasoned fried chicken and the usual extra condiments. The Sambal is not overly spicy and carried a slightly sweet taste ,which goes pretty well with the fried chicken.
